Israeli officials tipped off the Trump administration about an apparent Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The Wall Street Journal said the tip came as the war between the two countries continues.

Kelly O'Donnell reported July 10, 2026 that President Trump is demanding Iran publicly declare it will re-open the Strait of Hormuz after Iran violated the ceasefire by firing on commercial ships.

Three U.S. officials said the Trump administration has given Iran until Saturday to publicly commit to ending attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz or face unspecified consequences, and U.S. officials said the administration wants Tehran to publicly acknowledge the strategic waterway is open, commit to stopping attacks on commercial vessels and recognize that all shipping lanes through the strait will remain open without tolls. One U.S. official said, "it is not gonna be a great day for them."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to meet Saturday with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi in Muscat as regional mediators work to ease tensions and revive nuclear talks.

Senior U.S. officials said Iranian officials privately told Trump administration advisers they "made a mistake" by attacking commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and want to continue negotiations.

The White House wants Iran to publicly acknowledge the attacks violated the ceasefire and commit to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, and President Trump has directed Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Jared Kushner to continue negotiations, with talks expected in Oman on Saturday. U.S. officials said the administration would respond with military and economic measures if Iran resumes hostile actions.

The State Department said it is targeting Dubai-based financier Ali Ansari and Iranian currency exchange networks that U.S. officials say help move money for the regime, and State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott wrote on X, "While ordinary Iranians face inflation and shortages, the regime’s elites loot billions." The Treasury Department announced designations of Ansari and several exchange houses, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, "The so-called Supreme Leader is hiding in seclusion while his regime crumbles."

U.S. Central Command released video showing sailors conducting nighttime flight operations aboard the USS George H.W. Bush as the aircraft carrier continues operating in regional waters.

The Israel Defense Forces said it eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist operating near an underground tunnel shaft in southern Lebanon and said a suspect traveling in a vehicle was killed in a separate strike after allegedly posing a threat to IDF troops in the security zone.
