Trump’s Justice Department sued to block a Chicago suburb’s reparations program that would pay $25,000 to Black residents, saying the payments amount to illegal race-based discrimination.
The federal government said it seeks to halt what it called the first U.S. reparations program for Black people and has joined a suit against the city's program.
