Today's Key Numbers

TSMC on Monday disclosed a 68% jump in June and first-half revenue ahead of its second-quarter earnings, CNBC reported, a blockbuster reading that arrived alongside coverage saying executives still see strong AI demand.

Chip hardware leaders rallied: Nvidia Inc. (NVDA) climbed 3.88% to $210.96 and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) rose 2.00% to $557.89, moves that tracked the upbeat TSMC revenue release and reports that AI-related chip demand remains robust, according to CNBC.

SK Hynix Inc. suffered the opposite fate overseas, tumbling more than 12% in Seoul on Monday after what CNBC called a stellar Nasdaq debut for the chipmaker, a sharp reversal following its blockbuster listing in the United States.

Electric vehicle maker Rivian Automotive Inc. (RIVN) plunged 18% after the company sold 75 million shares to raise capital, CNBC reported, a capital raise that took place during extended-hours trading after shares had risen earlier in the session.

Oil jumped, with crude futures up 4.03% to $74.29, as traders continued to price in disruptions from the Middle East; CNBC said Kalshi traders see Strait of Hormuz traffic staying disrupted into 2027 and view higher U.S. gas prices as more likely for the months ahead.

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday released minutes from its June 16-17 meeting showing officials were split on the direction of interest rates, CNBC reported, a division some coverage described as a "family fight" that could prolong debate over policy moves.

On the political front, CNBC reported the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham at 71 after a brief illness, a development the outlet said will complicate GOP goals in Congress and immediately prompted discussion about potential replacements for the South Carolina Senate seat.

The S&P 500 closed at 7,575.39, up 31.75 points or 0.42%; the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished at 52,637.01, up 149.60 points or 0.28%; and the Nasdaq closed at 26,281.61, up 74.72 points or 0.28%.
