Chief Chris Eddy’s Law

This Act may be cited as the Chief Chris Eddy’s Law.
The Secretary of Transportation shall issue or revise, as appropriate, regulations relating to the transportation of hazardous materials to require the placarding of all refrigerated containers to communicate to emergency responders the potential of pressurization from such containers.
The regulations issued or revised under this section shall require the placarding described in subsection (a) on all refrigerated containers regardless of the cargo such container is transporting.
In this section, the term refrigerated container means a container that is capable of refrigeration and used for transportation in intrastate, interstate, and foreign commerce.
The Secretary shall conduct a study to assess whether refrigerants should be formally recognized as a distinct hazard category and include in such study an assessment of—
how the creation of a distinct hazard category for refrigerants would interact with other hazardous material classifications; and
the broader regulatory impacts of creating such a category.
